The University of Melbourne is committed to being one of the finest universities in the world, contributing to society in ways that enrich and transform lives. We recognise our social responsibility to lead and engage in public debate and action to address climate change.
Our sustainability commitments align with the University’s strategy 'Growing Esteem', including to be recognised as a leader in embedding sustainability in all aspects of the University's activities. These commitments are enshrined in the Sustainability Charter, which is an enduring statement of the University’s sustainability values and principles. The Sustainability Plan 2017-2020 articulates the Charter through targets and priority actions across Research, Teaching & Learning, Engagement, Operations and Governance. Our sustainability performance is measured annually in a published Sustainability Report using the GRI standard.
Through knowledge, imagination and action the University will help shape a sustainable planet and will be an international exemplar of an ecologically sustainable community.
